COMMISSIONING OF INTERCEPTOR BOAT 
ICGS C-144 AT VIZHINJAM , KERALA

          ICGS C-144, an interceptor boat of the Indian Coast Guard  was commissioned at Vizhinjam, Kerala by His Excellency Shri RS Gavai, Honourable Governor of Kerala on 09 Oct 2009. The 26 meter interceptor boat displacing 90 tons, built indigenously by M/s ABG Shipyard Ltd, Surat, was formally inducted into the ever vigilant fleet of the Coast Guard at an impressive commissioning ceremony attended by several dignitaries from the central/state administration, CoastGuard and Navy at Vizhinjam. The vessel has a compliment of 01 officer and 10 sailors is commanded by Commandant(JG) Chandra Shekar Joshi, who is awarded with Tatrakshak Medal. On commissioning, the ship will be based at Beypore (Kerala). The interceptor boat is fitted with ultra modern navigational and communication equipment and  will be deployed for enhancing the close coast surveillance capability of the Indian Coast Guard.
