The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, North West is located at Gandhi Nagar. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General  SP Sharma, PTM, TM. The Coast Guard has a force level of one OPV, one FPV, one IPV, two Hovercrafts, eight IB, two Dornier aircraft and two ALH helicopters in this region.

BLOOD AND ORGAN DONATION CAMP    

           Blood and Organ donation camp was organized on 30 Jan 10 in association with Indian Red Cross Society and Diva Eye Institute. Camp was inaugurated by Dr JM Vyas, Director General, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University in presence of Commander Coast Guard Region (NW).

          “Every drop counts - Donate blood” and “Light up Someone’s life”, “Gift your Sight” were few caption used to spread awareness during the camp. The event was graced by officers and men from Defence and Para military organisations. A lecture on eye donation was delivered by a specialized doctor. A total of 36 participants registered and took a pledge of donating eyes. A large number of volunteers donated blood on this occasion.

TROOP GET TOGETHER  

         Troop get together was organized for CG personnel and their families on 31 Jan 2010 on the occasion of Coast Guard day.  The budding artists showcased their talent during CG Day celebration and the headquarters objective was achieved of providing platform to wards of CG Officers and personnel to perform and gain confidence for participating at national level.

 MOTOR CYCLE RALLY  

          On the occasion of 33rd Indian Coast Guard Raising Day, Headquarters Coast Guard Region (NW) Gandhinagar organised a Motor bike rally to spread the security and safety awareness amongst the fishermen of Gujarat with a motto “SAMUDRA SURAKSHA AND CHETNA SAMPARK”. The Director General of Police (Gujarat) Shri SS Khandvawala, IPS flagged off the rally in presence of Inspector General SP Sharma, PTM, TM from Udyog Bhavan. The team comprised of Indian Coast  Guard Officers and Men who crossed a 1600 kms coast line of Gujarat starting from Gandhinagar and terminated at Jakhau. During the inauguration ceremony the police bands played the tunes to encourage team in their endeavour. Team undertook the task of undertaking community interaction with the fishermen and delivered lecture on safety at sea. The team also met children of various schools and colleges to encourage and enlighten them to join the Coast Guard organisation. The motor cycles were sponsored by M/s Hero Honda and all out support of state bodies was extended in making the event successful.

VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME  

          Tatrakshika President (North-West) region and the committee members visited "Krishna Vridhashram" an old age home. The Motto of visit was "One Age-One Spirit-We Care" synonymous to that of the Coast Guard "WE PROTECT".  A fully automatic washing machine was provided so as to provide comforts to the 30 senior citizens residing at old age home. The renovation of wash room and rest room was also undertaken so as to improve the living standards. During the visit, sweets were distributed to inmates.

 

                         

PRESIDENT TATRAKSHIKA(NW)  AT OLD AGE HOME            CGWWA LADIES INTERACTION  WITH SENIOR CITIZENS

 COMMISSIONING OF INDIAN COAST GUARD VESSEL C-146           

            On 28 Jan 10, Indian Coast Guard Vessel C-146 was commissioned by Mr Balwant Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary Home Gujarat Government. The vessel has a complement of one officer and twelve enrolled personnel.

 

          This water Jet propelled vessel has an endurance of five hundred nautical miles at 25 knots and capable of doing speed up to 45 knots. The vessel is fitted with latest state of the art navigation and communication equipment and also fitted with medium range armament. The vessel is designed for high speed interception, close coast patrolling, shallow water operations and search and rescue operations.

 ANNUAL INSPECTION   

       Commander Coast Guard Region (NW) on 22 Jan 2010 took the first inspection of District Headquarters No. 1 at Porbandar, post setting up the new region at Gandhinagar.
