The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, North West is located at Gandhi Nagar. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General  SP Sharma, PTM, TM. The Coast Guard has a force level of one OPV, one FPV, one IPV, two Hovercrafts, eight IB, two Dornier aircraft and two ALH helicopters in this region.

VISIT OF DIRECTOR GENERAL GUJARAT POLICE

            The Director General Police Gujarat along with Commander Coast Guard Region (NW) took the security survey of Gujarat Coast on 19 Apr 2010 and were onboard Indian Coast Guard Ship C-143 at Sea off Veraval harbour . The DG (P) along with senior Gujarat Police Officials and Commander Coast Guard   North-West embarked onboard Coast Guard Ship at Veraval harbour .

CGWWA COMMITTEE MEETING

           A CGWWA committee meeting was held at Gandhinagar on 22 Apr 2010.  The meeting was chaired by Mrs Ila Sharma, President, Tatrakshika, North-West region.  The meeting was attended by the treasurer, the secretary and the respective representatives of CGWWA from Surat, Porbandar, Vadinar, Okha and Jakhau.  At the outset, Mrs Ila Sharma welcomed all the invited ladies to Gandhinagar.  This was followed by an annual report by all the representatives from various stations.  A concise report was also read on the current status of the funds by the treasurer.  Subsequently various agenda points in respect of the region were discussed.  In the end, CGWWA Regional news letter was distributed to the  invitees.

TOWING ASSISTANCE TO DISTRESSED VESSEL

Indian Coast Guard Ship C-143 sailed with despatch at 2000 hrs on 18 Apr 2010 from Veraval Harbour on receipt of the message from Indian Coast Guard Station Veraval to rescue the vessel MSV AL GUMBTUL  Regn No. 12735, which was in distress at sea due to engine failure and excessive ingress of water. The Indian Coast Guard Ship C-143 continuously maintained her maximum speed and established communication with the vessel for current situation. The ship reached the datum within 20 Mins. 07 crew onboard vessel were in fear due to ingress of water and sinking of vessel in adverse sea condition. The ship immediately passed her towing rope to the distressed vessel for towing. The Ship towed the vessel to the Veraval harbour and saved the lives of 07 crew and vessel from sinking.

INTRA REGION VOLLEY BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

          Intra Region Volleyball Championship was conducted by ICGAE Porbandar from 13-15 Mar 10 at DHQ-1 Volleyball ground. Total 04 teams of  North-West region participated. Okha Ashore and Afloat stood winner and  Porbandar Afloat stood runner up. 

GOLF TOURNAMENT

          Regional level golf  tournament  was conducted on 03 and 04 Apr 2010. Players from the region participated in the event. Air Marshal PS Bhangu AVSM, VM was the chief guest on the occasion.
