The Headquarters, Coast Guard Region( East) is located at Chennai. The entire coastline from Kanyakumari to Visakhapatnam comes under the jurisdiction of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (East). There are 02 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 03 Coast Guard Stations, one Air Station and one Air Enclave on the eastern seaboard of India.

MAY 2012

ICGS Rajtarang was commissioned on 19 May 12 by Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri Dr MM Pallam Raju at Chennai.

Vice Admiral M P Muralidharan, AVSM, NM, Director General Indian Coast Guard on his visit to Eastern Region, visited  CGSD  (CH) and BMU (CH) on 31 May 12.

A lecture on ‘Maritime security in Indian Ocean Region’ by Dr Lawrence Prabhakar was conducted onboard ICGS Sagar on 04 May 12.

Intelligence Sharing Meeting was held on 18 May 12. All stake holders from Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari Districts participated in the meeting.

Coastal Security Exercise “HAMLA 01/AP” was conducted from 03-05 May 12. ICGS Kakinada was Area Coastal Security Operations Centre (ACSOC) and coordinated the exercise with Marine Police, Custom, Port Authority, Police and Oil & Gas Agencies.

Community Interaction      

Community interaction program was  conducted at Veerapandianpatnam in Tuticorin on 11 May 12 by ICGS Veera.

Community interaction programme was also organized on 18 May 12 at Tuticorin in Tamilnadu.

Chennai local area and Eastern Region table tennis championship were organised by CGSD (CH) from 10-11 May 12 and  24-26 May 12 respectively. Total 04 teams have participated. The Regional championship was won by the Chennai ashore team.

Intra District swimming championship was held at DHQ-6  on 11 May 12. All the units under the DHQ-6 have actively participated in swimming championship.
