The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General VSR Murthy, PTM, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, two FPV, two FPV (Jet) one IPV, three IB, two Dornier aircraft and one Chetak helicopter in this region.

Visit of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor

Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Lt. General (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM visited ICGS Hutbay on 06 Apr 12.

COMCG VISIT          

Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) visited ICGS Hutbay from 23 - 24 Apr 12.  During his visit, he has interacted with staff and inaugurated Stress Management Centre. 

SEMINAR ON COASTAL SECURITY AND MARITIME SAFETY

A Seminar was organised by Coast Guard on Coastal Security and Maritime Safety at Dweepika on 03 Apr 12.  Marine Police and fisheries department also participated in the seminar.

Medical lecture

A Medical lecture on water borne diseases was delivered by District Medical Officer on 09 Apr 12 at Bay View Hut. The need to adopt healthy practices, healthy food, regular exercises and boiled drinking water to avoid water borne diseases was stressed upon.

SHramdan

A shramdan was held on 21 Apr 2012 at sea front of DHQ-9. The aim of event was conservation and protection of Marine Environment. All CG personnel of DHQ – 9 and C- 140 participated in the event.

Coastal Security Exercise

Coastal Security Exercise was conducted from 11 to 13 Apr 12 among the Police, Forest, PMB, PMF, IB and Fisheries Department.

Community Interaction

DHQ-9 organised community interaction programme at Laxmipur village Community Hall on 07 Apr 12 in co-ordination with Local Panchayat and Fisheries Department. The interaction programme included lecture and demonstrations on Disaster Management, life saving equipment and safety measures for fishermen at sea, means of communication, establishing communication, radio telephony, calling/answering procedures and pronunciation of the numbers and decimal were also taught to fishermen. Demonstration of correct wearing of life jackets and use of life buoy were also undertaken. 

ICGS Hutbay also organised community interaction programme for local fishermen in which lecture and demonstrations to enhance awareness on safety measures for fishermen at sea, Disaster Management and First aid procedures were carried out.
