The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General KC Pande, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, two FPVs, two FPVs(Jet), one IPV, two IB, two Dornier aircraft and one Chetak helicopter in this region.

APPREHENSION OF 14 MYANMARESE POACHERS

Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Varad apprehended 14 Mayanmarese poachers along with their boat and large quantity of sea cucumbers on 05 May 11. The Myanmarese poachers  had intruded into A & N waters for illegal extraction of Sea Cucumber, were apprehended by Coast Guard and handed over  to Andaman Police at Port Blair.

A community interaction was held with local fishermen by ICGS Akkadevi in coordination with CGAE (PB) on 10 May 11 at Junglighat fishing harbour Port Blair. The fishing community was also familiarised about DAT operating procedure.

On 20 May 11, Indian Coast Guard ship ICGS Durgabai Deshmukh conducted community interaction with local fishermen at Karmatang Village Maya Bander.

COMMUNITY INTERACTION WITH LOCAL FISHERMEN, PORT BLAIR

A lecture  was held on safe handling of small arms onboard ICGS C-145 on 12 May 11.  Before conduct of firing, ship’s company was briefed about safety precautions to be followed while handling small arms.

STATE LEVEL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP HELD AT CG INDOOR SPORTS COMPLEX

5th State Level Karate  championship was held on 01 May 2011 at Coast Guard Indoor Sports Complex.  Childern from age group 10-16  participated. Chief of Staff, RHQ(A&N) distributed prizes  and medals to all the winners.
