The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General KC Pande, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, two FPVs, two FPVs(Jet), one IPV, two IB, two Dornier aircraft and one Chetak helicopter in this region.

Lt. Gen. NC Marwah, AVSM, the Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command on his visit to units in southern group of island, visited Coast Guard District Headquarters-10 on 01 Jul 11. The Commander was briefed about operational and other developments pertaining to coastal issue by Dist. Commander Indian Coast Guard. During the interaction session, CINCAN stressed upon importance of perseverance, determination and upholding of the ethos of the armed forces while under taking any assignment.


A plantation was carried out at TRV and Pragathipath as a part of Vanmahotsav  on 04 Jul 11.


ICGS Bhikhaiji Cama conducted community interaction programme along with fisheries department at community hall of Gram Panchayat Office, Mayabunder on  06 Jul 11.  A total of 35 fishermen from local fishing community participated in the event. The event started with a brief introduction on Indian Coast Guard and its charter of duties.  Various life saving equipment demonstrated  such as  EPIRB, SART, VHF set (walkie talkie), life jacket and life buoy etc. The fishermen were appraised on basic first aid, Andaman fever and actions to be taken in case of drowning and also educated on safety precautions while fishing at sea especially during monsoon. 

DHQ-9 conducted a community interaction programme for the local fishermen/villagers of Kalipur village on 22 Jul 11. Lectures were delivered  to the fishermen with live demonstration of various equipments. The fishermen were also appraised about the safety of life and property at sea, movement in group for fishing, ensure seaworthiness of their boats and registration of boats.


A Medical lecture on ill effect of Tobacco on physical, mental and social life of individual was conducted by District Medical Officer on 15 Jul 11 at Bay View Hut. The need to adopt healthy practices, healthy food, regular exercises,  meditation and to avoid drugs addiction was stressed upon.


CG awareness campaign among villagers of V K Pur was conducted by ICGS Hut Bay on 29 Jul 11. ICGS Hut Bay distributed DATs  to the fishing communities of V K Pur villagers.
