MEDICAL EVACUATION AT NARCONDUM |

ICGS Bhikhaiji Cama was sailed for Medical Evacuation of Shri Francis Xavier Kerketta, constable of IRBN on 08 Aug 11 at LOP Narcondum. The constable was given first aid and medicine, however condition had not improved. On arrival of ship at Diglipur the patient was handed over to SHO, Diglipur for further treatment at 1600 hrs on 08 Aug 11. |

RUN FOR HEALTH |

'RUN FOR HEALTH' was conducted at Port Blair on 06 Aug 11 to inculcate sportsmanship and infuse exercise schedule amongst CG personnel. The event was flagged off by COMCG (A&N) and the winners were awarded certificates by the Chief of Staff at prize distribution ceremony. |

| SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP | |

Intra Regional Aquatic Championship – 2011 was conducted from 08 Aug to 11 Aug 11 at Command Swimming Pool, Minnie Bay, Port Blair. Four teams from ships/afloat units participated in the event. DIG KN Gupta, Chief Staff Officer (Technical) was the chief guest on the closing day ceremony and gave the prizes to the winners and runners up. |

COMMUNITY INTERACTION PROGRAMME AND MEDICAL CAMP |

DHQ-9 conducted a community interaction programme for the local fishermen/villagers of Mayabunder village on 03 Aug 11. A series of lectures were delivered to the fishermen about their safety, security and the precautions to be taken at sea including live demonstration of various equipments i.e. life jackets, life buoys, DAT and Portable VHF sets etc. The fishermen were also appraised of the safety of life and property at sea, movement in group for fishing, carrying sufficient ration/fresh water, ensure seaworthiness of their boats, to carry Xeroxed registration documents of boats and to fly Indian flag. A medical lecture was also delivered by the medical staff. During this interaction, wide publicity regarding career prospects available in Coast Guard was also disseminated. Importance and usefulness of SAR telephone number 1554 and Coastal Security number 1093 were also intimated. Beside this, a Medical camp for the villagers was also conducted on the same day. Over 90-100 people were examined for various medical problems and appropriate medical advice and the medicines were distributed free of cost. ICGS Kanaklata Barua conducted a community interaction programme for the local fishermen/villagers of Mayabunder village on 28 Aug 11. Community interaction team also gave demonstration of various life saving equipment e.g life jackets, life buoys, DAT and Portable VHF sets etc. |
