Indian Coast Guard Station Karwar was commissioned by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, Director General Indian Coast Guard on 04 Nov 2009 based on the security assessment undertaken by Government of India for strengthening maritime and coastal security. The new ICG station is functioning under the operational command of the Commander Coast Guard Region (West). Commandant (JG) Anil Sharma is appointed as the Commanding Officer of ICGS Karwar. The station has two high speed patrol boats to undertake search and rescue operations, close coast patrol and respond to emergency calls. | |
